Secondary Treatment:

Activated Sludge Process (ASP): Effluent is aerated in a tank where microorganisms degrade organic pollutants such as oils, grease, and biological contaminants. The aeration process encourages the growth of bacteria that consume these pollutants.

Secondary Clarification: After aeration, the effluent enters a secondary clarifier where the remaining microorganisms and solids are allowed to settle.
