It is a comprehensive, all-in-one package for an economical Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). 1 KLD (Kilolitre per Day) STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) refers to a wastewater treatment system designed to treat 1 kilolitre (1,000 liters) of sewage or wastewater per day. This system is typically used in smaller residential complexes, commercial setups, or industries where the volume of wastewater generated is relatively low.

Components of a 1 KLD STP:
  1. Inlet Chamber: The first stage where sewage enters the plant. It allows for the settling of larger solids before they enter the treatment system.

  2. Screening Unit: Here, large debris like plastic, rags, and other non-biodegradable materials are removed.

  3. Equalization Tank: Balances the flow and concentration of sewage, ensuring that water entering the treatment processes is consistent.

  4. Primary Treatment: This involves physical processes like sedimentation to remove larger particles.

  5. Secondary Treatment (Biological Treatment): A key step where microorganisms (bacteria) are used to break down organic matter in the wastewater. This could involve:

    • Activated Sludge Process (ASP): Involves aeration tanks to promote bacterial growth.

    • Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR): A more compact, efficient method for secondary treatment.

  6. Clarifier/Settling Tank: After biological treatment, the remaining solids are settled out.

  7. Tertiary Treatment: Optional stage where further treatment like filtration or disinfection (usually with UV light or chlorine) is carried out to remove any remaining contaminants and make the water safe for reuse.

  8. Sludge Handling: The sludge produced during the treatment process is either treated further (e.g., dewatering) or disposed of properly.

Smart, Scalable, and Sustainable Sewage Recycling by VEPL

VEPL’s Decentralized Sewage Treatment Plant is a modular, compact, and eco-friendly solution crafted to serve residential colonies, gated communities, apartments, and eco-townships. This plug-and-play system recycles sewage into clear, odorless, pathogen-free water through a multistage process that includes biological treatment, ultrafiltration, UV disinfection, and optional ozonation.

It treats sewage at the source, reducing freshwater use while meeting CPCB, RERA, and NGT standards. The system is adaptable and built for 24x7 use with low operational cost and minimal manpower. The treatment flow includes bar screening, equalization, biological digestion using MBBR or SBR with EM/bio-culture, settling, sludge dewatering, membrane filtration, and final disinfection.

The structure is available in RCC, FRP, or MS with protective coatings. Capacities range from 5 to 500 KLD. Power use depends on capacity and ranges from 3 to 22 HP, with full standby backup for blowers and pumps to ensure reliable operation.

Each stage brings progressive improvement in water quality. The primary stage removes grit, oil, and solids. The secondary stage breaks down organic matter. The tertiary phase uses filters and UV to achieve clear, low-BOD, pathogen-free water. An ultrafiltration unit further polishes the output, achieving high turbidity and bacteria removal.

Live EM solutions enhance microbial activity, speeding up digestion of sewage. These cultures are dosed easily and are safe and biodegradable.

The STP produces reusable water suitable for flushing, landscaping, car washing, and cooling. Its advantages include compact footprint, dual disinfection, low noise, automation options, and full compliance with government rules.
